James M. Benbrook and his wife Martha moved their family to the
little town of Marinda, Texas in 1874. In 1876, he convinced the
Texas & Pacific Railroad to build a station on his property (that he
donated to the Railroad) known as Benbrook Station. Soon after
our City was renamed Benbrook, Texas.
